Cold Weather & Coffee
I used to detest Winter. Perhaps it was where I lived at the time. A charming town in Upstate New York called Saratoga Springs. Picturesque small town charm met brutally bitter climate, and I was so chilled I’ve not returned in 8 years, despite how much I adore the community and culture.
Today, as I sit in my tavern inspired dining space sipping a hot affogato from my new favorite Winter mug, I realize this season has begun to grow on me. A combination of living somewhere warmer, intentionally curating warm connections in the local small business and artistic communities, and cultivating charming little seasonal rituals means that Winter feels like connection and meaningful moments that will warm my heart for a lifetime.
One of my favorite things about this time of year? Gifts! giving them, that is. The joy that alights in my loved ones’ eyes, the way their whole presence positively radiates it. That’s the most beautiful experience. Don’t you agree?
Speaking of joyful presence, warm moments, and companionable connection over coffee, that’s what my poem Cappuccino Café is all about. You can collect a copy of the digital print version here for yourself, or as a gift for the coffee aficionado in your life.
I personally print my digital art out at CVS’ Photo Center, as you can order ahead online, they often have ridiculously reasonable pricing due to frequent sales and coupons, and they have a satisfaction guarantee so if you don’t like the print quality you can leave it and go print somewhere else.
Looking to curate a whole experience and working on respecting your budget during the holidays? Here’s a 2 pack of espresso frames I personally love due to their lightweight and minimal aesthetic. Perfect for apartments as a Command Strip is all you need to safely and sturdily mount them.
Love my Winter coffee mug? It’s a Target find. You can get one for your own mug collection or to add to a coffee themed gift bundle. The cream version already sold out, so here’s a link to my favorite scalloped mug, also from Target.
As for my favorite coffee, is it any surprise it’s Death Wish Coffee? A nod to my hometown, Death Wish has a well earned reputation for high quality sourcing and roasting, and their brews boast about double the regular dose of caffeine per cup for those dark Winter mornings when you most need a pick me up. Though, any coffee themed gift should be tailored to the recipient’s tastes, of course. My favorite flavor is their Chocolate Hazelnut, and I keep a packet of their Single Serve Instant Coffee in my purse at all times.
I hope this Winter finds you basking in front of a warm fire, wrapped up in your favorite cozy blanket, and curled up with your favorite (poetry) book at least a handful of times.
Thank you for visiting and enjoy your preferred cup of cozy today.
With love,
